The Missouri Trout Fishermens Association was formed in 1946 by two groups of individuals from Kansas City and St. Louis, who jointly wanted to promote interest in and improve trout fishing in the state managed waters and other streams of Missouri. At the time of inception, the Kansas City group was technically a part of the St. Louis organization as the system of chapters under a State Council had not been devised. A joint Convention was held in April 1947 and officers were elected for a State Council. It was during this Convention that the Kansas City and St. Louis groups were set up as Chapters. Since that original Convention a third Chapter has been added at Springfield. Presently our membership exceeds 300 members nationwide with the majority of members from Missouri and adjoining states. The Kansas City Chapter is the Largest of the three statewide chapters with membership exceeding 100. Objects and
Purposes The objects and purposes of the Association shall be to
encourage and promote interest in trout fishing in the State managed waters and
other streams of the State of Missouri; to further and promote the breeding,
propagation, improvement of the species, distribution and protection of trout
in the streams of the State of Missouri; to further and promote the
preparation, improvement, maintenance and protection of the trout waters and
all environs of such fish in the State of Missouri; to encourage and promote
expansion of the recreational facilities and advantages incident to trout
fishing in the State of Missouri; to generally engage in all forms of
activities relative to the conservation of all forms of wildlife in the State
of Missouri; and, for the enjoyment of the sociality's incident to the
recreation, sport and pleasure of trout fishing in the State of Missouri.
